Term 4 Week 9
10 December 2013

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Friends

The end of the year is nigh, and with it comes celebration for us as a school.

Your children and their teachers have worked hard this year along with you at home, and the fruit is evident. Thank you for investing time into overseeing homework and reading at home. It makes a difference! Thank you too for embracing the changes we have made in learning at school and home - having iPads and greater choice within our learning areas has engaged our learners. Happy and interested learners learn better!

Below is the data to show that our learners this year have made h-u-g-e improvement in their learning, and that we are now above the NZ mean for all our National Standards subjects.
We are excited to be able to build on this platform for next year, strengthen literacy and numeracy and move into clear development of Science and The Arts, thus broadening our expertise as teachers and learners.

I am thrilled to share that we have an experienced "Gifted and Talented" teacher working with our learners each Wednesday next year. Lyn Williams will teach all our classes for block of 1-1.5 hours per week, and also work with those who are particularly gifted.

So, what a good way to end the year. Good news from the past and good news for the future.
We look forward to our Bible Fair on Thursday and our prizegiving on Friday.

This Thursday we will have our Green Day reward. All children who have earnt this reward will need to bring togs, and towel as we will have a waterslide and waterguns. They are welcome to bring waterguns and water balloons from home.

On Tuesday (17th) we will have a Firewise visit complete with a bouncy castle, and on Wednesday (18th) we will finish school at 3pm.
Thanks for your support. And thanks to God for wonderful provision and peace and presence in our school.

Helen Pearson
