Newsletter Week 3 Term 3 2014

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Friends,

Romans 12.1, in The Message says:
"So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life - your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life - and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him..."

This is a good challenge for us as Christian parents and teachers, and as children. Praying and reading the Bible and singing is no more spiritual than reading, writing, maths, art, science, going to work, washing the dishes or cleaning up the mess the kids have made...again.

It is easy to be impatient with ourselves and the demands on our busy lives, especially when we seem to be constantly in a state of responding to the needs of others.

But this verse is a good reminder to us from Paul, about being and doing each thing as an offering to God and embracing what God is doing for us in the process.

Learning to be in tune with what God is up to and learning to recognise and be grateful for where we see God at work is an important aspect of growing spiritually. It goes against the grain of our natural immature desires to prove who we are (or who we are not), what we can do and how we can protect and provide for ourselves.

"So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life - your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life - and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him..."

Have a great week seeking to tune in…

Helen Pearson
