Week 1, Term 4

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Friends,

Spring has sprung! It is nice to see everyone back again with their stories of their holidays and enthusiasm to be here.

Lots of things are happening, so please take the time to get the overview in your mind and update your calendars thoroughly.

1. SWIMMING starts next Tuesday and continues for six weeks. I had incorrectly thought the government was funding this for us, and committed to it as no cost to you, but will honour this commitment. In future, we will need to ask for parent help to cover costs. However, this is a great opportunity. Please ensure you complete the forms here.

2. BOARD MEETING is on Monday at 7pm. Feel free to join us.

3. SCHOOL CELEBRATION CHURCH SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 8TH. This will be held at the Snells Beach Baptist Church and we would like all children and families to attend wherever possible. At this service we will formally witness the hand over from ownership of the Baptist Church to KingsWay Trust and the NZ Christian Proprietors Trust. We will celebrate the work of the school to date and thank the church for their great commitment and support over many years. The children will perform some songs and present a gift to the church, and there will be a morning tea afterwards. This is a highly significant time in the history of the school and we would like to give honour where honour is due, so please mark the date in your calendar.

4. SNOOPS - OUR PERFORMANCE practices are well underway. Please set aside Thursday 26 November from 7-9pm. A matinee performance will also be done on the previous Wednesday. Details later. Tickets will be available soon.

5. FRIDAY ASSEMBLIES. Due to the amount that is happening this term, we will not have usual Friday assemblies.

6. NAME CHANGE AND LOGO LAUNCH. It is expected that we will have a special assembly one Friday (hopefully October 30 or November 6) in order to launch the school name and logo. We will let you know next week what date is planned for this exciting transition.

7. HONOURING ASSEMBLY. Each year we like to thank those who have blessed us by donating time and energy to our school. This year's Honouring Assembly will be on December 4. Please plan to come. We would love to give each volunteer a nice cake or home made biscuits. More on that later.

8. GREEN DAY will be on Monday 7 December. This is being kept a surprise until closer to the time.

9. FINAL PRIZEGIVING will be on Friday 11 December at 9.10am.

10. FEUERSTEIN. The school has been mediating new learning about thinking and problem solving skills this year using the Feuerstein programme. At the Board meeting we will be discussing whether or not to continue this programme in future years. Please can you complete the form here ( 4 quick questions) now to indicate your thoughts on this programme to help us make an informed and consultative decision.

10. WHEELS DAYS will start again this term. Feel free to bring bikes, skates, skateboards on Fridays with helmets. No helmet means no riding.

11. FEEDBACK ON GRADUATE PROFILE AND CURRICULUM has been outstanding. If you would to see what people have said, feel free to see the link here. The Self Review team and Board will be processing this well over coming months. Thanks so much for your time and for the great thoughts.

Lots of other exciting things are happening this term including
Cricket lessons with professionals, skateboarding with Onboard Skate tuition, sailing for the senior class, a Really cool surprise Green activity, the Grip leadership conference for our 2016 school leaders, Life Education Van.... the list goes on!

We will be employing a new teacher for the senior class this term, so your prayers are welcome. We want nothing less than excellent!!!

Thanks for being part of our community.
