Week 5, Term 4

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Friends,

Thank you
What a wonderful occasion on Sunday as we celebrated the past and future with members of the Snells Beach Baptist Church. Thank you so much to all those of you who came on Sunday.

The children did really well dancing and singing, and there were lots of comments made about the high standard of the performances.

Snoops
This was a sneak preview for those of you who attended, of the 'Snoops' Musical Performance which is happening on Wednesday 25th at 12.30 and Thursday 26th at 7pm.

If you have not booked tickets for yourself, your friends, the grandparents, the cousins and everybody, NOW is the time to do so.

This is not just any old performance. Honestly,
the standard of singing and dancing is incredible, especially given the fact that this is previously untrained young children performing and not the end of year dance studio performance.

This high quality is due to the incredibly generous gift of time by Tilda Rabey's daughter who is a dancer.
Amy Rabey has pushed our children to excellence and they have risen to the challenge! You honestly won't want to miss it, and, as we only have one evening performance, you will be disappointed at the end if you missed out on inviting your friends to show them your child on stage!

Real Life Learning
At our school we integrate as much as possible into Real Life Learning opportunities and integrate numeracy and literacy, art, technology, science, social science and the arts into a main focus.
Last term the Year 4-8 children learnt in great detail about ticket design, programme design, costume design, and prop design, and then chose which group they would like to be in to take responsibility for the design for the performance.

Your children have been great designers. The tickets and posters have been designed by your children, the set and props have been designed and made by your children  (you won't believe what kids can make from cardboard and paint), the costumes have been designed by your children as has the progamme. The children can explain exactly why they made the choices they did.

All in all, we want a good audience.

Prize Draw: Sell ten tickets or more!
We will have a draw for a prize of $30 vouchers for either Dick Smith or Smiggle for children who have sold ten tickets or more by Friday 20th November. There will be plenty of seats for the matinee particularly, but get in quick to ensure you don't miss out on the evening performance yourself.

Thanks

Helen Pearson

Snoops Half Day
The children will be up late on Thursday 26th November with their evening performance of the Snoops Production.   As a result it has been decided that rather than starting late on the Friday, the children will be allowed to go home at 1.30pm on Friday 27th November (after the afternoon roll has been taken).

Wanted for Snoops
Someone to help us with lighting and sound for our performance, and a few practices ahead.

People prepared to distribute invitations to Snoops matinee on Wednesday 25th at 12.30 to LifeWay Homes, preschools and local retirement villages etc  Lots of children dancing and singing.

We need 4 wireless microphones. If you are happy to ask your church or organisation, or give a donation towards Horizon School microphones, we would love to hear from you.

We are currently needing help with the sewing of costumes.  The costumes are simple designs, and don’t require a high expertise in sewing.  Please let Helen or Louise know if you are able to help.

Christmas Parade: Wanted truck or trailer
This year we are hoping to have a Christmas Float in the Warkworth Christmas Parade.  We are currently trying to find an open truck or large trailer which could be used for our float.  Could you please email Alice in the office if you can help us with this.

$4 School Lunch this Friday
Complete the order form here and send $4 to school this Friday for your child to have Macaroni and cheese with jelly and fruit.  An order form will be sent home again this week.

PTA Meeting
The PTA are organising a t-towel fundraiser this term.  The children will have their own art work on the t-towel, and they will be designed to make a great Christmas Present.  A letter will be going home this week about it.  All orders must be in by Thursday 19th November, in order for the t-towels to be printed in time for Christmas.   There will be no orders able to be taken after this date

Wanted
We would love any donations of booster seats you no longer need.  We are wanting to have some spare booster seats at school for using on trips.

We would also love any donations of any old ipads which are no longer being used at home.

Every Monday morning from 8.45 – 9.15 we have prayer time for the school. All parents, caregivers and friends of the school are welcome to attend.

Voices of Pain and Voice of Hope
Alexis Waterhouse has also recently published a book called Voices of Pain and the Voice of Hope. It is a visual, textural and emotional journey through pain to hope. It is designed to expose the lies (or patterns of negative thinking) that entrap people suffering through emotional pain or mental health issues.
It uses poetry, art, photography and reflection to encourage the reader to continue on their journey of healing; and to seek help and community.
The book also teaches mindfulness and grounding techniques which allow the reader to pause, breathe and reflect in the moment – regardless of whether the situation is positive or challenging.
Book retails at $25.95. All profits go to A Girl Called Hope (Residential Home).
