From the Principal Week Five Term One 2014

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Friends,

As we raised our five children, Dean and I wanted them to be a part of a strong community of families, believing that this provides a great emotional environment in which to grow. We have seen the fruit of this in their lives.  My 21 years experience as a parent strongly influences who I am and what I value today in my role as principal and our staff is fully on board with making MCS an inclusive and supportive community.

It is our belief that in a supportive community, our children learn
- to relate to whole families rather than just a ‘thin’ layer of a peer group they meet in class
- that other adults like them and can speak into their lives
- that other people do things a bit differently from Mum and Dad and that’s OK
- that there are other adults we can trust if we need help
- that we can be safe to have the broad new experiences that other families offer

All these memories and relationships broaden our children’s experience of the world. Because they have strong relationships and feel good about themselves, we can, together as a community of families, reach out to include people who are different from us in one way or another, or who are having a difficult season in their lives. We can be inclusive because we are confident in our own skin and because we really DO have something to offer. We have known God’s love and the love of others, and we can share that love with others. To me, that is the result of a good education. The value of all learning is not just in what we know but in how we use that knowledge.

Our school is committed to working with parents to build a strong community for our learners.

It was an absolute pleasure to have so many of you at camp. Thank you so much for being so supportive of the children, and for mucking in so well in areas of your interest and strength.
We would like to build on this foundation going forward. We would like to strengthen this community for the sake of our children, for mutual support as parents, and to make our school a formative and open community for new people coming in to the school.

To do this, we need you!

Please complete the short online survey here
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Y7XD2NG as soon as possible if you are happy to be involved in helping create a strong community -  a great team can make things happen around here, and have fun as well!

Your participation in any way at all is so valuable.
