Week 7, Term 2

Dear Fellow Parents, Caregivers and Friends

Are you excited by community – doing, living and being in community, being part of a team, participating and contributing your God given gifts and strengths for the wider picture and plan that God has. If yes to these then we need you and would love to have you join our Parent Group.

The vision and heart we have is to build a strong, Christ like, effective, enduring, loving community of people in our school. That we truly will be known and seen as fruitful people who love one another and share that love freely with others. That through loving others well we would shine the light of Jesus and give the glory to God.

John 13: 34
In the words of Jesus Christ "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my
disciples, if you have love for one another."

That’s the call on our lives. 1st is to Love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our mind, all our strength and all our soul, and 2nd is to love one another. Here’s my thoughts…
Firstly we are called to be intrinsically bound together as a family. Because like me I’m sure you want our children and future children to have first-hand experience of what it means to be a Christian, to live, love and be like Christ and share Christ with others.
Secondly we know that we are all called to part of the bigger picture and God promises that “He who is in us is greater than He who is in the world’ and also that ‘who He has called He has equipped and anointed’ for the role/ task they do. Great news  we are all qualified, and have enough of Him in us to do this, even when it seem hard, scary, uncomfy, all He needs is our willingness.
Thirdly we want our children to see our faith lived out through every season that God gives us, the valleys, sufferings, pain and loss we go through and the mountains, highs, celebrations and successes and also our daily dealings with one another the way we show respect, honour and give glory to God through how we treat others.
So how do we do this!....
We do the stuff, we back up our words, with Truth and action. In other words we be a blessing to someone, we die to self and take that step to really live for Christ.
One way is that we are starting a Parents Facebook page, please like it. In it you will see many stories of God at work in our midst. We’ll share prayer requests, praise reports, needs we have or needs of others, encouraging scripture and other things.
Another way is our 1st Wednesday of every month Parent Group meeting where we discuss and plan out community events and fundraising ideas for the school,
More ways could be: taking a meal to someone in need, making a phone call of encouragement, sending a text or email of encouragement or support, being a shoulder to cry on, offering to pray for someone, standing in the gap in prayer being an intercessor, offering lifts, intentionally choosing to believe the best in others rather than assuming the worst, choosing to put on kindness, forgiveness, and mercy when we don’t feel like it but know it’s what we are called to do

So I believe the challenge for us all, is get out of your comfort zone, take the leap of faith God is asking, seek Him out, spend intentional time in His presence listening and resting in Him and then go out willing, hungry, ready and equipped in Him to do the stuff and be a community builder through your words and actions to others.
I’m excited and expectant for what God wants to build and pray you are too. Please join us in praying weekly for MCS community and the presence and living God to be experienced and encountered by all.
Thanks
Paula Blackie
